When the Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys last met in Week 10, most believed the Eagles would dominate the game. Few thought the Cowboys had a chance against the defending Super Bowl champs. They thought a big win over one of Philly’s most hated rivals was exactly what the Eagles needed.
But the game didn’t quite go as most expected.

Three weeks later, the Cowboys are 7-5, lead the NFC East, and are riding a four-game winning streak. The Eagles are 6-6 and could steal control of the division from the Cowboys with a win at AT&T Stadium this week.

The Debate
Many believed at the start of the season that the Eagles would roll through the division with ease and be a Super Bowl contender once again. But that has been far from the case. However, with the Eagles having won two in a row, many of those people are ready to jump back on the bandwagon.
They think the universe can be made right again with a win over the Cowboys this week. But beating Dallas is not going to be an easy task.
The Dallas defense showed just how good it can be by shutting down the high-powered Saints offense last week. They held Drew Brees to just 127 yards and just one touchdown and the Saints running game to just 65 yards. When the team needed a big play out of the defense late in the game, they got it.
But the defense doesn’t deserve all the credit. Dak Prescott did a great job of sustaining drives and keeping Brees off the field. However, can both units hold up against the Eagles this week? The Eagles are not nearly as good on offense and defense as the Saints, but if you take them lightly, they can be tough to overcome.
Josh Adams has been giving the Eagles a good running game. He only gained 47 yards against the Cowboys last time but only carried the ball seven times. Carson Wentz took needed some time to get on track with his receivers. But once he did, he was able to light up the Dallas secondary for 360 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
But if the Eagles really want to win, they have to figure out how to do one thing—stop Ezekiel Elliot.
The Prediction
Eagles fans are right to be excited after winning two in a row and climbing back into the playoff hunt. But they have to keep in mind who they beat—a terrible Giants team (that required a late fourth-quarter field goal to win) and a Redskins team forced to play with Mark Sanchez at quarterback.
Those are not exactly impressive wins.
Dallas hasn’t exactly been blowing the competition away either. However, their issue may be a potential emotional letdown after the big win over the Saints last week. But with how they are playing now and with a chance to really gain control of the division, they will not have a letdown this week.
Look for the Cowboys to do what they have done for the last four weeks—control the ball with the run game and some opportune passes. Their defense will have no problem shutting Josh Adams down forcing Carson Wentz to win the day.
This year and against this defense, he is not up to the task. Take the Cowboys to win, straight up and against the spread (-3.5). With the over/under set at 43 points, like most Cowboys games, the under is the safest bet.
