Welcome to the ESPN Sportsbook how can I place your wager? This sounds like it would have been only in a fantasy Disney movie a few years ago but now it’s a reality. ESPN is working on a $3 billion deal to license out their name for the 1st ever ESPN Sportsbook. The Disney company that also owns ABC was very hesitant about promoting sports betting on it’s properties.
ESPN licensed affiliates promoted sports betting content on air but owned and operated radio stations like the ones in Chicago, Los Angeles, and New York were not allowed to talk gambling in an effort to try and stay family friendly. Well now that is all gone. With talks between DraftKings & Caesers Entertainment to add ESPN to their sportsbooks name online and in person.
As part of the deal ESPN is wanting additional advertising dollars to be spent on their platforms and podcasts that include the Chalk sports betting section of the espn.com website.
Sportsbooks are on track to bring in over $1.5 billion with over $30 billion in sports bets this fall with at least $20 billion coming from NFL & College Football.
