After a short break on Wednesday, the 2019 World Series continues with Game 3 at Nationals Park. There are plenty of interesting matchups in the National Hockey League and National Basketball Association, and one game in College Football, so let’s take a look at our best betting picks of the day.

  • Houston Astros vs. Washington Nationals

Even in their wildest dreams, the Nationals’ fans couldn’t see their team winning the first two games of the 2019 World Series. On the road, against two extremely good pitchers, but the Nationals completely outplayed the Astros, beating them 5-4 in Game 1 and 12-3 in Game 2.

Hereof, I don’t know what to expect from Game 3 at Nationals Park. The Astros are firm favorites once more. They will start Zack Greinke who’s 0-2 in three starts this postseason with a 6.43 ERA and a 1.43 WHIP. At least, Greinke is 6-1 in nine starts against the Nationals in his career.

On the other side, the Nats will counter with Anibal Sanchez. The right-hander went 11-8 in the regular season, while he’s 1-0 in two starts in the postseason. In 12.2 innings of work, Sanchez allowed five hits and a run while striking out 14.

The Astros are already in dire straits. They are capable of beating the Nationals here, but it’s always tough to perform well under pressure. I would avoid betting on this clash. It just could easily go either way.

  • USC Trojans vs. Colorado Buffaloes

The USC Trojans will search for their 11th straight victory over the Colorado Buffaloes. They covered the spread six times in that span including the previous two encounters with the Buffaloes. The Trojans lost all their three contests on the road in 2019, and this is a great opportunity for redemption.

The Buffaloes are playing in a poor form. They are on a three-game losing streak, failing to cover in the process. Likewise, the Buffaloes are 3-11 SU and 4-10 ATS in their last 14 games overall.

Colorado’s defense has been terrible this season. The Buffaloes are allowing 34.9 points per game (116th in the CFB) on 483.1 total yards (124th). Also, their starting QB Steven Montez has tossed for six interceptions and zero touchdowns in his last two outings.

The Trojans are surrendering 24.0 points per contest (51st) while scoring 30.7 points in a return (55th). They should have enough firepower to thrash off the Buffaloes, although they are playing on the road. Give me the Trojans to cover.

  • USC Trojans -11.5 at -110

FREE NHL BETTING PICK OF THE DAY

  • San Jose Sharks vs. Toronto Maple Leafs

The interconference clash between the Sharks (4-5-1) and Maple Leafs (5-4-2) should be a proper high-scoring affair. The over is 5-2 in the Sharks’ last seven games overall, and it is 7-2 in the Maple Leafs’ previous nine outings at home.

Furthermore, five of Toronto’s last seven games had seven or more goals in the total, as well as five of San Jose’s previous seven showings. Toronto is 6th in the NHL in goals per game (3.64) and 25th in goals against (3.45). The Sharks are 26th in the NHL in goals against (3.56).

The Maple Leafs outlasted the Sharks twice last season. They won both duels with an identical 5-3 result. Hereof, I’m taking the over.

  • Over 6.5 goals at -115

  • Utah Jazz vs. Los Angeles Lakers

The Lakers disappointed their fans in the opener. They lost 112-102 at the Clippers, while LeBron James and Anthony Davis combined for paltry two points in the fourth quarter. Now, the Lakers have a chance to bounce back, hosting the Utah Jazz who barely outlasted Oklahoma City 100-95 in their season opener.

Utah overcame an eight-point deficit in the fourth quarter on the back of Donovan Mitchell. The third-year guard had a terrific game, scoring 32 points on 63.0% shooting while grabbing 12 boards. However, the Jazz didn’t impress at all, so I think the Lakers will beat them tonight.

The Lakers won only three of their last 12 meetings with the Jazz, but they covered eight times in that span. Also, the Lakers are 4-2 SU and 5-1 ATS in their last six outings at home, while Utah is 0-5 SU and 2-3 ATS in its last five showings on the road.

  • Los Angeles Lakers -3.0 at -110
