  • Milwaukee Brewers vs. Colorado Rockies

Entering Friday’s opener at Coors Field, the Brewers were just a game behind the Cardinals at the NL Central standings. If they want to stay in the race for the divisional title, the victory over the Rockies is a must.

The Brewers have been playing in a terrific form lately. Before Friday’s clash in Denver, they were riding a seven-game winning streak while losing just two of their previous 20 games. On the other side, the Rockies were 2-6 in their last eight contests and 6-9 in the previous 15 at Coors Field.

Gio Gonzalez will toe the slab for the Brewers. The lefty is 3-2 in 16 starts and two relief appearances this season. He has a 3.70 ERA and a 1.29 WHIP, while the Brewers are undefeated in his last five starts. Gio is 4-1 in six starts against Colorado in his career.

Chi Chi Gonzalez will take the mound for the Rockies. The right-hander is 2-6 in 11 starts and two relief apps this term, tallying a 5.68 ERA and a 1.53 WHIP. This will be his first-ever start against the Brewers.

The stake is huge for the Brewers here. They beat the Rockies in 12 on their last 16 encounters, and I expect this trend to continue. The Brewers covered the spread in five of their last six wins at Coors Field, so take them to win by two or more runs.

  • Milwaukee Brewers +110 over Colorado Rockies by two or more runs

  • Rutgers Scarlet Knights vs. Michigan Wolverines

Both Rutgers and Michigan are struggling with injuries and their performance in 2019. While the Scarlet Knights (1-2; 1-2 ATS) lost two straight games and were outscored 60-16 versus Boston College and Iowa, the Wolverines (2-1; 0-3 ATS) are coming off a tough 35-14 loss at Wisconsin.

The Scarlet Knights will be without their starting QB Carter McLane who’s in concussion protocol. Sophomore Art Sitkowski will be under center, and he threw for 304 yards, a TD, and an interception in a 30-16 loss to Boston College.

Rutgers lacks discipline, too, averaging 8.3 penalties for 80.3 yards per game to rank 125th in the country. Their run defense is awful, surrendering 218.0 yards per game which is slightly worse than the Wolverines’ run defense (208.7).

On the other side, the Wolverines will certainly miss their backup QB Dylan McCaffrey (concussion), while their starting QB Shea Patterson is dealing with a shoulder injury. Likewise, tight end Sean McKeon is doubtful due to a leg injury.

The Wolverines were humiliated in Wisconsin, trailing by 35 points before they scored a couple of touchdowns. Now, they have to bounce back, and the good thing is that the Wolverines will play in front of the home audience.

I expect the Wolverines to finally put on a strong defensive performance. Jim Harbaugh’s boys have to be more physical, while their offensive line needs to do a much better job protecting Shea Patterson.

Michigan is 4-1 SU and 3-2 ATS in its last five meetings with Rutgers. The Wolverines are 10-1 SU and 7-4 ATS in their last 11 outings at home. On the other side, Rutgers is 0-7 SU and 2-5 ATS in its previous seven showings on the road. Hereof, I’m backing the hosts to get their first ATS win on the season.

  • Michigan Wolverines -28.0 at -110
