- Houston Astros vs. New York Yankees
The American League Championship Series is tied at 1-1 after the first two contests at Minute Maid Park in Houston. Now, the series heads to Yankee Stadium in New York where the Houston Astros are listed as -163 favorites to win on Tuesday night and take the lead.
The Astros will start Gerrit Cole, while the Yankees will counter with Luis Severino. Cole will get his third starting nod this postseason after winning a couple of games against Tampa Bay. He pitched 15.2 innings in those two starts, allowing six hits and a run while striking out 25.
Cole is playing at the highest level this season. He went 20-5 in the regular season, tallying a 2.50 ERA and a 0.89 WHIP. Gerrit is 1-0 in two starts against the Yankees in his career.
On the other side, Luis Severino missed most of the regular season recovering from an injury. The right-hander returned in September to record a win and a loss in three starts. Severino pitched four innings in a 5-1 win at Minnesota in Game 3 of the ALDS, allowing four hits and striking out four.
Although Severino is 2-1 in his four starts against the Astros in a career, the visitors arguably have the advantage on the mound here. Cole has dominated the Rays in the previous round and looks pretty confident on the mound.
After losing the opener at home, the Astros have to win one game in New York. I think this one is a perfect opportunity, so I’m taking Houston over the Yanks.

- Philadelphia Flyers vs. Calgary Flames
The Calgary Flames dominated the Western Conference this past regular season, but they blew it when it was the most important. They are off to a slow start this term, losing four of their first six games. The Flames are on a two-game losing streak after a 6-2 defeat at Vegas and a 3-1 defeat at San Jose.
On the other side, the Philadelphia Flyers won their first two contests on the season before they lost a shootout at Vancouver this past Saturday. The Flyers are on a three-game road trip on the west coast, and they lost eight of their last ten road meetings with the Western Conference.
Likewise, the Flyers lost four straight road encounters with the Pacific Division and are 0-5 in their previous five showings away from home. The Flames, on the other side, won seven of their last eight home matchups with the Eastern Conference.
Calgary is 6-0 in its last six home meetings with the Metropolitan Division. The Flames won seven of their last ten encounters with the Flyers and four of the previous five meetings in Canada. Hereof, I’m backing these trends to continue.
