  • Washington Nationals vs. Houston Astros

It’s a win or go home situation for the Nationals. After winning the first two games of the World Series, the Nationals lost three straight at home. The momentum is completely on the Astros’ side. They allowed the Nationals to score three runs in the total in three games in Washington.

Justin Verlander will toe the slab for the Astros tonight. He’s coming off a rough performance in Game 2. Verlander allowed seven hits and four earned runs in six innings of work in a 12-3 loss to the Nationals. The right-hander is 1-3 in five starts this postseason, tallying a 4.15 ERA and a 1.19 WHIP.

Stephen Strasburg will get the ball for the Nationals, and the right-hander is 4-0 in five starts in the postseason with a 1.93 ERA and a 0.96 WHIP. He pitched six innings against the Astros in Game 2, allowing seven hits and two earned runs.

Although Strasburg is playing at the highest level, I expect Verlander to finally put on a strong performance. Likewise, the Astros’ bats were terrific over the last three games, so I’m backing the hosts to finish the job tonight.

  • Houston Astros -170 over Washington Nationals

  • Washington Capitals vs. Toronto Maple Leafs

The Capitals (8-2-3) will finish their five-game road trip tonight. They are 3-1 in the previous four outings, coming off a 6-5 shootout victory at Vancouver. The Capitals overcame a four-goal deficit against the Canucks, netting three times in the 3rd period.

On the other side, the Maple Leafs (6-5-2) are coming off a 5-2 defeat at Montreal, recording their third loss over the last four outings. Still, the Maple Leafs have won three of their previous four showings at home.

This will be the second meeting of the season between Washington and Toronto. Two weeks ago, the Capitals outlasted the Maple Leafs 4-3 at home in a clash that could easily go either way.

The Capitals are on the road for a while, and there should be some tired legs among their roster. This is a nice opportunity for the Maple Leafs to bounce back even though they’ve won only one of the last five home encounters with Washington. Give me the hosts at money line odds.

  • Toronto Maple Leafs -125 over Washington Nationals

  • Dallas Mavericks vs. Denver Nuggets

The Nuggets will have no time to rest after a 101-94 victory at Sacramento last night. It was their third straight win of the season, while the Nuggets are 2-1 ATS. Also, the Nuggets are 6-0 SU and 5-1 ATS on the second night of their last six back-to-back sets.

It’s still early in the season, so I don’t expect the Nuggets to struggle with fatigue. Nikola Jokic played just 28 minutes last night and should be fresh in this one, especially after scoring only nine points against the Kings.

On the other side, the Mavericks are 2-1 SU and 1-2 ATS on the season. They are coming off a painful 121-119 loss to Portland on Sunday. The Mavs are 4-6 SU and 8-1-1 ATS in their last ten games on the road and 0-6 SU and 3-3 ATS in their previous six visits to Denver.

I expect the Nuggets to stay on the winning path. They should be all over Luka Doncic on the defensive end which is a key factor when playing against the Mavs. Still, I think the Mavs will keep it close, so I would take the alternative line.

  • Denver Nuggets -4.0 at -138

  • Seattle vs. Los Angeles FC

Los Angeles FC was on a bye in the first round thanks to the best record in the regular season. In the conference semifinals, LAFC routed the LA Galaxy 5-3 at home, proving they have the best offense in the MLS.

On the other side, Seattle needed overtime to outlast Dallas 4-3 in the first round. The Sounders defeated Real Salt Lake 2-0 in the conference semifinals. This will be their first game on the road this postseason.

During the regular season, these two teams met each other twice. Los Angeles FC thrashed off Seattle 4-1 at home, while we saw a 1-1 tie at CenturyLink Field in Seattle. The Sounders are winless in four meetings with LAFC overall, tallying three losses and a draw.

Therefore, I’m backing the hosts to win. The price is not tempting at all, so I suggest you combine it with three or more goals in the total.

  • Los Angeles FC to Win & Over 2.5 Goals at -110
