The College Football season continues with four games on Friday night. There are a couple of very interesting conference matchups. No. 4 Ohio State visit Northwestern in the Big Ten clash, while Syracuse hosts Pittsburgh in the ACC showdown.
The Ohio State Buckeyes are enjoying a wonderful season. They are keen to make it to the CFB Playoffs, looking for another convincing win when they visit the struggling Wildcats. While the Buckeyes covered in five of their six wins on the season, the Wildcats are only 1-4 SU and 2-3 ATS.
The Buckeyes are listed as massive favorites for a reason. They are allowing only 8.8 points per game (4th in the country) on 234.7 total yards (2nd). Their defense is doing a great job, tallying 27 sacks so far which are tied-most in the nation.
Likewise, the Buckeyes are the 4th-most efficient team in the country, scoring 49.3 points per game. Their ground game is the 3rd-best with 289.0 yards per outing. Justin Fields has thrown for 1298 yards, 18 touchdowns, and a pick, while J.K. Dobbins has 116 carries for 826 yards and six touchdowns.

On the other side, Northwester is doing a good job defensively. The Wildcats are allowing 19.8 points per game (30th) on 320.0 total yards (29th). However, their offense has been terrible. The Wildcats are the 3rd-most inefficient team in the country with 14.4 points per contest on 293.0 total yards (125th).
I don’t see how the Wildcats will damage the Buckeyes’ stout defense. Northwestern kept its games close thanks to a good defensive job, but I assume they can slow down the Buckeyes and limit the below 30 points. Hereof, I suggest you tease the Buckeyes and take them as 20-point favorites.
Ohio State won its last seven encounters with Northwestern, covering the spread six times in that span. Also, the Buckeyes are 3-0 SU and ATS in their last three visits to Ryan Field. The Wildcats are 1-11 SU and 4-7-1 ATS in their last 12 outings as underdogs of 20 or more points.
The Syracuse Orange are looking for their first win in the conference play this season. They are 3-3 SU and 2-4 ATS at the moment, coming off a 16-10 loss at NC State. On the other side, the Pittsburgh Panthers are riding a three-game winning streak, improving to 4-2 SU and ATS on the season.
The Panthers’ defensive unit is doing a good job despite 22.5 points allowed per game (43rd). They are tied-1st in the country with 27 sacks while surrendering only 97.0 rushing yards per game (16th). Still, the Panthers’ secondary could be an issue against the Orange.
Syracuse’s QB Tommy DeVito has tossed for 1534 yards, 12 touchdowns, and five interceptions. WR Trishton Jackson has 33 receptions for 499 yards and six touchdowns. The Orange could make some serious damage through the air in this one.
On the other hand, Syracuse’s defense has been poor thus far, allowing 26.0 points per game (63rd). The Orange will have to improve defensively to eventually upset the odds here even though the Panthers’ offense is not an elite one. Pittsburgh is scoring only 21.5 points per outing (107th).
Hereof, I think the hosts will keep it close, and I doubt the Panthers’ chances to win by 11 or more points. Two of Pittsburgh’s last three wins over Syracuse came by seven or fewer points. Syracuse is 8-1 SU and 5-4 ATS in its last nine home games, while Pittsburgh is 3-5 SU and 5-3 ATS in its previous eight contests on the road.
Tease the Orange by seven points and take them as 10.5-point underdogs. With a two-game 7-point teaser, you will get around -120 odds.
