Week 5 of the 2019 NFL season kicks off with the NFC West clash between the Los Angeles Rams and Seattle Seahawks at CenturyLink Field in Seattle Thursday night. The hosts opened as 2.5-points dogs, but the odds drifted to Seattle -1.5 following the Rams’ 55-40 home loss the Buccaneers.

The Rams are now 3-1 straight up and ATS on the season. On the other side, the Seahawks improved to 3-1 SU and 2-2 ATS with a 28-10 win at the Cardinals. The totals are set at 49.5 points, and the over has hit in the last three head-to-head duels between the Rams and Seahawks.

Last year, the Rams defeated the Seahawks on both occasions, failing to cover in the process. However, they were listed as 7.5-point favorites in a 33-31 win in Seattle and 9.5-point favorites in a 36-31 win in LA.

The Rams’ defense completely fell apart on Sunday, allowing 464 total yards to the Buccaneers who went five for six in the red zone. Jameis Winston owned their secondary with 385 passing yards and four touchdown passes.

On the other side, Jared Goff had ridiculous 68 passing attempts, completing 45 for 517 yards and a couple of touchdowns. However, Goff threw three interceptions and now has six touchdowns and six picks on the season.

Todd Gurley ran for two touchdowns, but he had just five carries for 16 yards. The Rams’ ground game continues to struggle, racking up just 99.8 yards per game (22nd in the NFL) and 4.1 yards per carry (19th). They are unlikely to improve against the Seahawks’ run defense that is surrendering 79.5 yards per game (6th).

The Rams could easily fall in love with their passing game once again. Goff was tallying 35.0 passing attempts per game through the first three weeks. The chalk on his passing attempts has been set 38.5 which might be too high. Goff was averaging 35.1 passing attempts during the last season.

The line on Goff’s passing yards is set at 276.5, and the Seahawks are allowing 239.5 passing yards per game (16th). On the other side, Russell Wilson is set at 257.5 passing yards and the Rams’ are allowing 238.5 passing yards per contest.

Wilson is enjoying a wonderful season so far, tossing for 1141 yards and eight touchdowns. He’s completed 72.9% of his passes, and Russell is still without an interception. The price on the Rams’ banged-up defense to pick off Wilson is -110. Russell threw eight interceptions in 14 starts against the Rams.

Goff to throw another pick pays -160. He tossed for five TD and five interceptions in six games versus Seattle, averaging 7.2 passing yards per attempt.

Todd Gurley will have to show up for the Rams if they want to beat the Seahawks. He could be a nice pick in the over on his yards from scrimmage. I don’t expect the Rams to dominate the Seahawks on the ground, but they will have to find some balance.

Gurley is a -125 fave to score anytime. Cooper Kupp scored in two straight games and is on a three-game streak with 100-plus receiving yards. On the other side, Tyler Locket will be the biggest threat to Rams’ secondary.

After stellar displays in Week 2 and 3, when he combined for 21 receptions and 233 yards, Locket had just four catches for 51 yards last week. I’m looking for Locket to bounce back in this one, I would take him to record at least five catches at -125.

Chris Carson finally ran for 100-plus yards this season, tallying 104 on 22 carries against the Cardinals. Still, he will have a much taller task against the Rams’ run defense.

This is a short-week matchup which could be another indicator of a high-scoring affair. Still, I think both teams will do most of the damage through the air.

Los Angeles Rams vs Seattle Seahawks Betting Trends

The total has gone over in the last three H2H duels and the previous two at CenturyLink Field. The over is 10-3 in Seattle’s last 13 games overall, and it is 5-2 in Seahawks’ previous seven showings at home. On the other hand, the under is 7-2 in the Rams’ last nine contests on the road.

The Rams are 6-2 SU and 4-4 in their last eight matchups with the Seahawks who are 11-3 SU and 10-4 ATS in the previous 14 encounters in Seattle. The Rams are only 3-13 SU and 3-12-1 ATS in their previous 13 showings as underdogs.

The Seahawks are 4-0 ATS in their last four games against the team with a winning record but only 0-4 ATS in the previous four following an ATS win. Seattle won six of its last seven contests at home, covering three times in that span.
