It’s still early in the 2019-20 NHL season to make big bets and jump to conclusions. Still, with eight games Tuesday night, it’s hard to ignore all the markets. The betting trends can be helpful, especially in the first few weeks. Hereof, let’s take a look at the hottest trends around the National Hockey League.
The Carolina Hurricanes are 3-0 on the season for just the second time in their history. They visit the 1-1 Florida Panthers as +105 dogs, and the Hurricanes are 6-1 in the last seven head-to-head matchups. Likewise, the Hurricanes have won three of their last four visits to BB&T Center.
Interestingly, both teams outlasted the reigning Presidents Trophy-winner Tampa Bay in Week 1. They both did it at home with an identical 4-3 outcome. Florida met Tampa Bay on the road, too, and lost 5-2.
The Panthers are 5-3 in their last eight outings at home, and the over is 7-1 in that span. They are 3-10 in the last 13 games played in October. On the other side, the Hurricanes are 4-2 in their last six showings on the road and 9-5 in their previous 14 outings in October.

While the Hurricanes are still unbeaten, the Dallas Stars and San Jose Sharks will search for their first wins tonight. Both Dallas and San Jose entered the season with three straight losses after reaching the playoffs last term.
Dallas visits the 2018 NHL champs Washington Capitals as a +132 underdog. However, Dallas won 12 of its last 15 meetings with Washington including both last season’s encounters. Likewise, the Stars are 9-2 in their last 11 trips to Washington.
The Capitals won their first two games on the road in Week 1, but they lost to Carolina 3-2 this past Saturday. Washington is 11-4 in its last 15 outings at home, but the Capitals lost six of their previous nine home games in October.
The Stars are 4-7 in their last 11 showings on the road and 3-7 in the previous ten in October. They lost 14 of the previous 20 road encounters with the Eastern Conference and 12 of the last 14 road matchups with the Metropolitan Division.
The San Jose Sharks visit the Nashville Predators in the Western Conference showdown. The Predators are 1-1 on the season and listed as -155 home favorites. They are 5-3 in the last eight meetings with the Sharks and 12-2 in the last 14 encounters in Nashville.
After a painful loss in the Western Conference Finals last season, the Sharks were on a tough schedule in Week 1. They lost twice to Vegas along with a 3-1 defeat at Anaheim. The Sharks won only one of their last seven games on the road and are 4-7 in their last 11 outings in October.
Two undefeated teams will face off against each other in Detroit. The Red Wings host the Anaheim Ducks who won eight of the previous 12 head-to-head duels. However, the Red Wings defeated the Ducks in the last three meetings in Detroit. Also, the Red Wings are 13-5 in their last 18 home matchups with Anaheim.
Both teams opened the season with a pair of wins. The Red Wings defeated Nashville 5-3 on the road and Dallas 4-3 at home. The Ducks are on a five-game winning streak including the preseason. They outlasted Arizona 2-1 and San Jose 3-1 at home in Week 1.
Anaheim is only 5-12 in its last 17 outings away from home. The Ducks lost nine of their ten road matchups with the Eastern Conference. Detroit won six of its last eight games on the home ice and seven of its last 13 home meetings with the Western Conference.
