With just three weeks left, the 2019 Major League Baseball regular season enters the thrilling finish. The battle for the wild-card spots is very interesting in both the American and National League. Likewise, three teams are fighting for the best record in the league.

While the Los Angeles Dodgers dominate the National League, recording 93 wins and 52 losses, the New York Yankees and Houston Astros entered their Monday’s games with a 94-50 record. Hereof, let’s see what can we expect from those three teams Tuesday night.

The New York Yankees will take the field first, visiting the Detroit Tigers in the opener of a three-game set. The Tigers are the worst team in baseball with a 42-100 record. Also, they are terrible at home, winning just 18 of their 68 games at Comerica Park this season.

Interestingly, the Yankees lost two of their three meetings with the Tigers in 2019. In that three-game set at Yankee Stadium in New York, the Yankees scored only five runs in the total. However, I expect to see a different scenario tonight, considering the Yankees’ stake.

The Yanks haven’t announced their starting pitcher yet, but their offense should dominate Edwin Jackson. The 36-year old pitcher lost four straight games and is 3-9 this term with a 9.16 ERA and a 1.98 WHIP. Jackson is 2-8 against the Yankees in his career.

Considering Edwin’s form, the Yankees will have a perfect opportunity to score a bunch of runs. They are the second-most efficient team in baseball with 5.78 runs per game. The Yanks’ batting average is the fourth-best (.269), while the smashed 268 home runs (2nd in the league).

While the Yankees play the worst team in the league, the LA Dodgers visit the second-worst team in baseball. The Baltimore Orioles won just 46 games this season along with 97 losses. Their pitching staff is the worst in the MLB with a 6.18 ERA.

The Dodgers meet the Orioles for the first time since 2016 and are 2-4 in six encounters with Baltimore this decade. However, the Dodgers look like a sure shot at Camden Yards Tuesday night.

Walker Buehler will toe the slab for the Dodgers, and he’s 12-3 in 2019, tallying a 3.28 ERA and a 1.04 WHIP. The Dodgers won three straight contests with Buehler on the mound, while their pitching staff is the best in the league with a 3.86 ERA.

On the other side, Ty Blach will get the ball for the Orioles, and the lefty is 1-2 in four starts and two relief apps this season. The Dodgers are 27-19 versus the left-handed starter this season, and I expect them to improve their record tonight.

The Dodgers won just three of their last ten games on the road. If they want to keep the pace with the Yankees and Astros, beating the Orioles is a must. Baltimore is on a four-game losing streak in front of the home fans.

Finally, the Houston Astros welcome the Oakland Athletics in the second of a four-game series at Minute Maid Park. While the Yankees and Dodgers should have an easy job tonight, the Astros meet the A’s who are battling for the wild-card spot in the American League.

Entering Monday’s clash with the Astros, Oakland was just game and a half ahead of the Cleveland Indians. The A’s won five of their last six outings and five of the previous eight away from home. The Astros won six of their last seven games overall and ten of the previous 11 at Minute Maid Park.

Houston is 11-5 in its last 16 meetings with Oakland, but the A’s won four of the previous six H2H duels. Still, the A’s won just one of their six visits to Houston in 2019.

Tanner Roark will get the ball for the A’s, while the Astros will counter with Wade Miley. The A’s are 4-2 in Roark’s six starts since he’s joined the team from Cincinnati. Tanner is 9-8 this season with a 3.86 ERA and a 1.35 WHIP and 2-0 in three starts against the Astros in his career.

Miley, on the other side, is 13-4 this season, tallying a 3.35 ERA and a 1.26 WHIP. The Astros are 7-1 in his last eight starts, while Wade is 5-2 in eight starts against the A’s in his career. Still, keep in mind that Oakland is 27-12 against the southpaw starting pitcher in 2019.

Considering all the facts, the clash between Houston and Oakland is one to avoid. The Yankees and Dodgers both look like hot picks despite some unattractive odds.
