The Major League Baseball season enters a thrilling finish. The New York Yankees and Houston Astros are tied at the top of the American League with a 98-53 record. The Los Angeles Dodgers are 97-54, leading the National League.

While these three teams will battle for the best record in the MLB, the race for the wild-card spots is breathtaking at the moment. Hereof, Tuesday night brings plenty of interesting games with all MLB teams taking the field.

American League

The Yankees and Astros will start their home series tonight. Both teams are listed as -300 favorites, but the Astros looks like a better pick. They will start Justin Verlander against Texas, and an eight-time All-Star is 17-8 in 30 starts versus the Rangers. Also, Verlander is 18-6 this season with a 2.58 ERA and a 0.78 WHIP.

Likewise, the Astros are 10-4 in their last 14 outings at home and 7-0 in their previous even home meetings with Texas. On the other side, the Yankees are 14-5 in their last 19 home contests and 12-3 in their previous 15 home matchups with the LA Angels.

However, the Yankees will start Luis Severino who hasn’t pitched since 2018. Severino is 41-25 in his career with a 3.51 ERA and a 1.15 WHIP. He’s 0-1 in three starts against the Angels who are just 2-9 in their last 11 road tilts.

Elsewhere, the Oakland Athletics, Tampa Bay Rays, and Cleveland Indians continue their battle for the wild-card spots. Entering Monday’s games, the Athletics were 1.5 games ahead of the Rays who were 1.5 games ahead of the Indians.

Oakland hosts hapless Kansas City, and the A’s shouldn’t have any problems as -270 favorites. Brett Anderson (12-9; 4.17 ERA) will take the ball for the A’s who won seven of their last nine matchups with Kansas City. Anderson Won two of his last three starts and two of his three starts against the Royals in a career.

Cleveland is a -205 home fave to beat the Detroit Tigers. The Indians should have an easy job against the worst team in the league. You can find all-important betting trends and tips for this clash here.

Tampa Bay will have the toughest job, visiting the LA Dodgers as +105 dogs. The Rays will start Blake Snell (6-7; 4.37 ERA), winning his last four starts, while the Dodgers will counter with Ross Stripling (4-4; 3.40 ERA).

Ross pitched just eight innings over his last three starts, but the Dodgers’ pitching staff is the best in the league (3.39 ERA) right ahead of the Rays (3.65 ERA). The Dodgers are 15-5 in their last 20 games at home and 4-1 in the last five home matchups with the Rays who are 4-7 in their last 11 outings on the road.

National League

While the Dodgers have clinched the NL West title, Atlanta will certainly win the NL East. The NL central is still wide open with St. Louis leading the race two games ahead of the Chicago Cubs and three ahead of Milwaukee.

Washington is currently 2.5 games ahead of Milwaukee, while the Mets and Phillies still have a chance to reach the playoffs. The Mets are four games behind the wild card and half a game ahead of the Phillies.

Philadelphia will have a mountain to climb at Atlanta tonight. The Mets, on the other side, could be a nice pick at -157 to beat the Rockies on the road. Marcus Stroman (8-13; 3.35 ERA) will get the ball for the Mets, while Tim Melville (2-2; 5.16 ERA) will take the hill for the Rockies.

Before the last night’s opener at Coors Field, the Mets were 12-6 in their last 18 road games. On the other hand, they were just 2-8 in the last ten road meetings with the Rockies who lost 14 of their last 19 showings at home.

The Cubs have a nice chance to close the gap tonight. They welcome Cincinnati as -145 favorites, while St. Louis hosts Washington as a +105 dog. The Cardinals will have a difficult assignment against Patrick Corbin (12-7; 3.20 ERA). Miles Mikolas (9-13; 4.28 ERA) will get the ball for the Cards.

Yu Darvish (6-6; 3.97 ERA) will toe the slab for the Cubs who won three of his last four starts. The Cubs are 12-4 in their last 16 home matchups with Cincinnati and 14-6 in the last 20 outings at home.

Milwaukee defeated San Diego 5-1 at home last night to open a four-game set. The Brewers lost their best player Christian Yelich for the season, but they won ten of their previous 11 games overall.

Gio Gonzalez (2-2; 4.01 ERA) will get his 17th start of the season for the Brewers who are 7-3 in his last ten starts. The Padres lost six straight contests on the road. They will start rookie Chris Paddack (9-7; 3.38 ERA).
