  • Miami Marlins vs. Milwaukee Brewers

The Miami Marlins (21-36) will meet the Milwaukee Brewers (34-26) for the first time this season, opening a three-game series at Miller Park in Milwaukee. The Marlins are sitting bottom of the NL East table, while the Brewers are topping the NL Central at the moment.

The Marlins are playing in a shaky form, winning five of their last ten outings and coming off a 2-1 series victory at the San Diego Padres. They’ve won three of the last seven games on the road, but the Marlins are still the worst team in the National League and the most inefficient team in baseball with only 3.32 runs per game. Miami’s pitching staff is 16th in the league with a 4.44 ERA.

On the other side, the Brewers are coming off a 3-1 series win at the Pittsburgh Pirates. They’ve won six of their last ten contests overall and eight of their previous 11 outings at Miller Park. Milwaukee is scoring 5.07 runs per game (11th in the league), allowing 4.61 runs in a return with a 4.43 ERA (15th in the league).

Pablo Lopez will get the starting nod for the Marlins, while the Brewers will counter with Chase Anderson. Lopez is 3-5 in 11 starts this season with a 4.99 ERA and a 1.20 WHIP, and the Marlins are 4-7 in that span, while the right-hander lost his only career start against the Brewers. Anderson is 3-0 in five starts and six relief apps this season with a 3.31 ERA and a 1.35 WHIP, and the right-hander is 3-2 in his seven starts against Miami.

The Brewers are strong favorites on this one and should satisfy the odds. They won four straight home encounters with Miami and six of the last eight H2H duels overall. The Marlins’ last five losses came by two or more runs, while the Brewers covered the spread in five of their last six wins, so take the hosts to win by two or more runs.

  • Milwaukee Brewers +105 over Miami Marlins by two or more runs
