June is just around the corner which means the slower betting period is upon us. Without NHL Finals on today’s schedule, we’ll see just ten games in Major League Baseball along with Game 1 of the NBA Finals between the Golden State Warriors and the Toronto Raptors, but there are still enough markets for the bettors to choose from and make some nice wagers.

Sometimes, the smaller market actually means the better opportunity to win bets, and it all depends on who’s in action. Remember, if you need some guidance in order to better navigate the sports betting world, please visit our in depth sports betting tips page.

There are a few very interesting matchups in Major League Baseball this Thursday, May 30, 2019, including a huge AL East showdown from Yankee Stadium in New York that will see the Boston Red Sox taking on the New York Yankees.

The Yankees are topping the AL East seven games ahead of the Red Sox, and these two arch-rivals meet each other for the second time this season to open a four-game series. Back in April, the Yankees swept the Red Sox in a two-game series at home.

Interestingly, the reigning champions opened as -140 road favorites even though the Yankees are playing in a great form, winning nine of their last 11 outings, while the Red Sox have dropped three of their last six showings on the road.

Also, Chris Sale will get the ball for the Red Sox, and he’s just 1-6 in 11 starts this season, while the Red Sox are 3-8 in that span. The seven-time All-Star is far away from his best form and he already lost to the Yankees on April 16, pitching five innings in an 8-0 defeat to allow seven hits and four earned runs.

J.A. Happ will take the mound for the Yankees, and he’s 4-3 in 11 starts this season, while the Yankees are 7-1 in his previous eight starts. Happ pitched 6.1 innings in a 5-3 victory over Boston on April 17, allowing six hits and three earned runs while striking out four.

The left-hander is 8-4 in his 21 starts against the Red Sox, and Happ’s teams are 10-4 in his previous 14 starts versus Boston. Considering the stats and current form, the Yankees seem underestimated here, so +133 odds on them to win look quite tempting. Also, the Yankees had a day off on Wednesday, whilst the Red Sox are coming straight off a tough three-game series against the Indians at home.

Another big game will take place at Tropicana Field in Tampa Bay where the Rays welcome the AL Central leaders Minnesota Twins. These two American League foes will take on each other for the first time this season, and the Rays have won seven of the previous 11 head-to-head duels.

Both teams have been playing well lately, especially the Twins who dropped just two of their last 14 contests. The Rays won 12 of their last 20 games and are trailing 1.5 games behind the Yankees in the AL East.

We’ll see the great battle between two in-form pitchers. Martin Perez will get the starting nod for the Twins, while Charlie Morton will take the hill for the Rays. Perez is 7-1 in eight starts and three relief apps this season, recording a 2.95 ERA and a 1.33 WHIP, but he’s 0-3 in six starts against the Rays who are 11-5 against the left-handed starter this term.

Morton is 5-0 in 11 starts with a 2.54 ERA and a 1.16 WHIP, and he’s 1-0 in two starts against the Twins in his career. The Rays are listed as slight -130 favorites on this one and should be able to cope with the red-hot Twins.
