Famous hedge fund manager and avid art collector Steve Cohen has agreed to purchase the New York Mets from the Wilpon family today. The total deal is for $300,000,000 LESS than the agreed upon price in 2019.
The other part of the deal involves Sterling Partners who are purchasing from Fred Wilpon and The Katz Families. They said they wanted to stay with the organization for years to come but have reconsidered and taken a loss of $300 million dollars for doing so. Cohen an avid trader has always been one to get a great deal and as the news has broken Steve Cohen has said:
“I am excited to have reached an agreement with the Wilpon and Katz families to purchase the New York Mets,”
