When fans of the Dallas Cowboys saw their beloved quarterback, Tony Romo, go down during the preseason last year they likely thought three things: (1) Not again! (2) Now, what the f— are we going to do? and (3) time to hang it up, Tony. With as many injuries as he’s had over the last couple of season, it was time.
But fans have continued to hold out hope for a return. What if Dak Prescott were to get injured? Would he be willing to step back in and play? Yeah, he’d probably struggle a little as he got his timing back but he’d be better than Kellen Moore.

During his retirement press conference, he said he was 99 percent certain that he was done. When he stuff like that and made comments like, “I feel like I left something out there,” it’s easy to see why some fans were still holding out hope.

But they can stop now.
During a recent appearance on the NFL Network, he made his future intentions clear.
“Oh yeah, probably a good chance. We’ll see how it plays out. I think you’ll find — I’m joking,” Romo said, rolling his eyes and laughing. “Like I said before, I’m done.”
With how he talked about his new job as a color commentator, it sure didn’t sound like he had any interest in putting his shoulder pads back on.
“I’m pretty happy and excited about the opportunity that was presented to me,” Romo said. “I got coach Jim Nantz teaching me all the tricks of the trade that I’m going to be behind on, but I’m improving fast. I’m excited about it…”
Even if he were to get the call, it would probably take way too long for him to get back in the groove for it to matter for the Cowboys. He hasn’t exactly been doing anything to prepare to play—he’s had too much going on.
Along with learning the ins and outs of commentating, he’s been indulging in his other passion—golf. He’s scheduled to play in the Western Amateur at the end of the month. Romo will also be playing in the American Century Championship in Lake Tahoe this week.
Along with back-to-back winner Mark Mulder (a former baseball player), he is favored to win with three to one odds.
It appears Romo’s National Fantasy Football Convention is finally going to happen, too. The NFL shut it down the last two seasons. But it appears that the third time may be the charm for the long-awaited event.

Between getting ready for his new job, playing golf, and the fantasy convention, he has his hands full. If he is contemplating pulling a Brett Favre and coming back, he certainly hasn’t left time to train. But that will not stop people from speculating.
The talk may not start to quiet down until he starts his television job. Should he do well, the talk will begin to quiet down. Should he fail, the speculation will likely run rampant once again.
Of course, the longer Prescott can go without a poor performance— or missing any time due to injury – the talk will quiet down as well.
